A major 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit Central Italy on January 18, 2017, at 10:14:11 UTC, at a depth of 0 km, reported Geoscience Australia (not finalized).
A series of quakes ranging from 5.1 – 6.1 hit Central Italy starting at about 10:25 am local time, although the area has been plagued throughout the day with dozens of smaller magnitude quakes.
A local resident, Lina Mercantini said, “This is totally unnerving; it’s never ending. We are all shaking,” reported Sky News.
